Dressage on Grass Competition Sunday 14th April 2013
By Wayne Clarke (event organiser)
This was the first competition that I have organised for the SWDG and I must admit the last couple of weeks have been the most daunting and stressful of times, but as a consequence, today has been the most enjoyable thing that I have done with the club so far!
The sun shone all day (albeit with a few rain showers, which did not dampen the spirits of the competitors or supporters) and the competition was blessed with some great performances from horses and riders in all sections. The wind did its best to try and spook horses, but generally competition was strong and I hoped that everyone enjoyed their day! The going at Aldon was excellent for this time of year (even though I had my worries whilst we put the arenas out the previous day in monsoon conditions!)
Praise needs to go out to all supporters, my secretary, stewards, judges, writers and scorers who made this competition happen, but most importantly to the Battens – who without the fantastic facility of Aldon this competition would not go ahead. Thank you to everyone who worked their hardest to make this competition a success!
Good luck to all those competing throughout the remainder of the season and I hope that all competitors today enjoyed their time and may we see you, and many more next Spring!
Good luck to all, Wayne :-)
